Kanadske obcanstvi

Dnes jsem se oficialne stala obcankou Kanady. V cervnu jsem si podala zadost, v zari sla na test a dnes v 9:40 rano jsem slozila slavnostni prisahu. V anglictine i francouzstine. V anglictine jsem to jeste zvladla opakovat po pani soudkyni, ale ve francouzstine jsem tam neco mumlala a s ulevou koukala, ze je na tom tech asi 70 lidi, co skladali prisahu se mnou, uplne stejne. Tady je pro zajimavost ta prisaha:

Oath of Citizenship

I affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfil my duties as a Canadian citizen.

Today I officially became a Canadian citizen. I submitted my application in June, wrote the test in September and today at 9:40 a.m., I took the citizenship oath. In English and in French. I managed to repeat the words after the judge in English, but I was totally lost in French and just made up some silly words to resemble a bit the official version. To my relief, about everybody in the room, that is the 70 something people that were taking the oath with me, was doing the same. The text of the oath is above.
